Shoulder specialist since 1998

Marios Salmas began specialising in the shoulder in 1998 in Zurich, at Balgrist Hospital, alongside Christian Gerber, and continued at Harvard's Massachusetts General Hospital with J.P. Warner. He was one of the first in Greece to take up modern shoulder surgery.

World-class athletes have trusted him with their shoulder and elbow problems. Most operations are performed arthroscopically, with small incisions and a quick return to activities.

“Professor Salmas performed a particularly difficult operation on my father: a reverse total shoulder replacement with a simultaneous latissimus dorsi tendon transfer, so that he could raise his arm again, which he could not do before. Even though we had seen many doctors before, only Professor Salmas took him on, and the operation was a complete success. 5 months after the operation he is doing farm work as before. A unique scientist and human being. I recommend him without reservation.”

“Dr Salmas, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything. After a fall last Christmas, my left shoulder dislocated. At the Metropolitan emergency department, after the reduction, they told me the problem needed surgery. Without proper information, fear is the first feeling that takes hold of you, and so, without further ado, I simply left it and did nothing. Last June, while I was sleeping, it dislocated again. Back to the emergency department, another reduction and the same advice. After a lot of searching on the internet I found Dr Salmas. On Monday 14/06 I visited his office, and on Thursday 17/06 he scheduled me for surgery. An operation with no pain at all. The operation took place at 19.00 and the next morning I was at home. My arm was in a sling for 6 weeks. 6 weeks with no pain at all, I want to stress that. Today, about 4 months later and after only 15 physiotherapy sessions, I feel as if I never had an operation. A huge thank you to this HUMAN BEING.”
