“Right hip replacement for my mother, aged 79, with many health problems and a complicated medical history. The operation took about 2 hours. When she was brought up to her room she was communicating normally, and they brought her food even though dinner time had passed (late afternoon). The next morning, after the professor came by and told us that everything had gone well, a physiotherapist (who works with the doctor) came in the afternoon, did exercises with her and then got her up, and she walked with a walking frame comfortably and without any pain anywhere. I must add here that the physiotherapist was truly professional: he explained and showed us how she should get up, sit down and lie down, as the implant needs care for about 6 weeks until it settles. The professor also visited her every day, got her up to walk and talked to her to encourage her, even though there was no need, because she felt well and was well, since she had no pain at all! Three days after the operation she was discharged, walking with a walking frame mostly for safety and because of her age. At the Metropolitan emergency department, after the reduction, they told me the problem needed surgery.
